Mr. Teruya served Luchu for decades as a politician, lawyer, and independence restoration advocate, looking out for the well-being of Indigenous Luchuans / Uchinanchu. He helped many Luchuans to the best of his ability, including myself. I will always be grateful for Mr. Teruya personally rescuing me in February 2019 when I was wrongfully detained by the government of Japan. We will remember Mr. Teruya's inspiring words, "Uchinanchu will decide the future of Uchinaa!" And we will complete Mr. Teruya's work and restore Luchu's rightful independence.
Thank you, Mr. Teruya. Sincerely, Rob Kajiwara Rob Kajiwara as well as the Peace For Okinawa Coalition have endorsed a letter and resolution draft to the United Nations, requesting support for Indigenous peoples. The letter and resolution come from the Indigenous Peoples and Nations Coalition, who Kajiwara has collaborated with since 2019.
